Your new role

  • The positions report in to the Head of Actuarial Reporting and will involve the following areas / responsibilities Model Risk Policy Implementation:

  • To support Group Actuarial to close some gaps in our high materiality actuarial and capital models, as assessed against their Model Risk Policy:

  • The tasks will encompass liaising with members of the team to understand how the models work and related processes, and support the team in further developing the models and documenting aspects of models in line with the documentation standards set out in the Model Risk Policy

  • The external support will need to be familiar with the general principles of model risk such as those TASs principles, with some relevant experience of using/developing actuarial and capital risk models, and able to get up to speed relatively quickly to minimise input from the busy BAU team Process Documentation:

  • To support Group Actuarial in improving process documents, either enhancing existing process documents and/or creating process documents in line with best practice example and the company's Solvency II Data Quality Policy, where relevant and applicable

  • This task may well have some overlaps with the documentation requirement to meet the Model Risk Policy, so there should be some synergy to be gained

  • Again, working under guidance from senior member of the team to understand the process and document the end-to-end process

  • The external support should have some relevant experience on Solvency II documentation and/or with good exposure/understanding of what good looks like in documenting processes


The above work will cover some models and processes for Group and for their solo entity

What you'll need to succeed

  • You will need a minimum of 2-3 years' relevant actuarial experience
  • Life or Non-Life background is acceptable for these roles
  • The incumbents must be able to work with some guidance but minimal input from the busy team
  • Must be self-sufficient and have focused mindset
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and follow good internal governance such as ensuring documents are well audit trailed and are reviewed by a member of the team. The present the deliverables for final review and sign off by myself and head of the team


What you'll get in return
They can offer a day rate ranging from £400 to £600 a day, depending on experience
