Home based (1-2 days in Midlands)

A well respected insurance Broker with a passionate and dynamic leadership team are looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst to take the data lead within a general insurance pricing team. You will be preparing large and complex data sets for Analysts ultimately enhancing underwriting decisions to sustain and maximise underwriting performance.

Responsibilities

  • Building on existing personal lines data assets, to enable the best possible data for use in pricing reviews
  • Needs to be organised and naturally detail-focused, with a strong interest and demonstrable prior experience in an actuarial role
  • Ability to work with others to understand business needs, tailoring their solutions to meet these needs
  • To produce and be accountable for the technical accuracy of financial information to support the production of actuarial analysis, models and reports
  • Under direction from the Underwriting Managing Director, the primary role outcome being the enhancement of underwriting decisions to sustain and maximise underwriting performance
  • Deliver and maintain pricing, reserving and analytical solutions for all underwriting line
  • Recommend initiatives to enhance underwriting profitability
  • Measure impact of underwriting actions, rate change, renewal retention, new and lost business
  • Support the business planning process through loss ratio projection and analysis
  • Ensure data quality is to the highest standard, reconciled and fit for purpose
  • Keep abreast of industry initiatives, new pricing methods and best practice

Knowledge required

  • Good knowledge of pricing and data manipulation techniques
  • Good knowledge of the insurance market and of insurance products available
  • Expert in using GLM techniques to price. Skilled user of EMBLEM
  • Experience of using advanced machine learning techniques to build models or tracking and monitoring tools is an advantage
  • Knowledge of SQL or any other data manipulation software is an advantage
