Key Accountabilities

  • To provide direction to the Insurance functions within DLG, providing a high level of support for the Director of Financial Risk
  • To provide oversight and challenge of the loss ratio and pricing model assumptions via the regular involvement and attendance at committees and the undertaking of reviews and specific analyses, providing support to the Head of Insurance Risk
  • To proactively investigate high risk areas and highlight where DLG is not optimising risk management controls such as reserving, pricing, capital allocation, including carrying out deep dive reviews, with a focus on the pricing risks
  • To identify, own and manage the risks involved in running our business appropriate to this role, in line with the company risk framework, and in particular to provide oversight and challenge of pricing models and model implementation
  • To provide significant input to the Actuarial Function underwriting opinion and the ORSA, including contributing to a risk review of the annual Plan.
  • To provide input and expertise to the Stress and Scenarios team and to the Capital Modelling team, particularly within the parameter sign off process
  • To manage the second line oversight of Insurance Risk for DLG, testing business adherence to the Insurance policy framework and to relevant regulations and to provide subject matter expertise in reserving, pricing and reinsurance
  • To set, manage and monitor the risk appetite framework for Insurance risk, ensuring that risk exposures are monitored
  • Develop effective working relationships with key stakeholders and the business to ensure that insurance risk management is embedded throughout the organisation
  • To monitor and provide insurance risk expertise to business strategies (such as new products, processes or systems); to support the Risk Leadership Team by providing oversight, challenge, intervention and analysis as required
  • To provide regular and ad-hoc risk reporting in line with Executive, DLG and senior management requirements including Board Risk Committee and Risk Management Committee reporting, presenting when required to the above committees
  • To contribute towards a team capable of delivering Financial Risk Strategy and Vision, developing each team member towards their full potential in line with DLG's goals, reinforcing the culture and values of DLG through appropriate behaviours and actions

Skills we are looking for

  • Fully qualified Actuary
  • Previous experience within a Pricing function & an understanding of how pricing models work
  • General Insurance background
  • Ability to communicate, provide oversight & challenge at a senior level
